Instrument change sometimes makes expressions and lines wig out

While creating percussion staves that change from instrument to instrument, I sometimes have a strange issue where any expression, articulation or line after the change wants to stick to the beginning of the first measure of the change. I can only add these things by copy pasting them from another stave, and adjustments sometimes make them stick to the same first measure. Note that the cursor changes from an upwards arrow to a left and upwards pointing arrow when I hover over the affected stave.

What I want to write (obtained by copy pasting from another stave)

What happens when I try to apply a dynamic directly in the 3/8 measure

What happens when I try to place a hairpin directly in the 1st and 2nd measure

What gives?

It looks like a bug having to do with going from a five-line staff to a one-line staff. It looks like if you use a five-line staff, apply your dynamics and hairpins, and only then change to one line, that will get around it and is probably preferable to copying from another staff.

Thanks! That "fixes" it, though it's kinda annoying when dealing with lots of percussion parts that change regularly, because it adds two extra steps for each change to an instrument (changing to 5 line and remembering to change it back at the end).

So this isn't a common problem?
