Tried it; didn't help.

I did another full reinstall, and at least playback now works, but pizz still does not.

Just tried reinstalling. It didn't even help playback, so no idea if it helped with the pizz.

Just reset preferences. At least it played before, even without pizz. Now it won't play. Last time I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling to get it to playback. Should I do that again, or is there a more elegant solution?

Let me ask a more basic question: is there some way that I can "reset" the program to its initial defaults, in case that move resolves the problem?

Found that box, and it looks exactly as it does in motet's image.

Sorry about my ignorance. How did you reach that box? (but I always use playback controls)

Human playback is on "standard".

I decided to try a full reset: uninstall Finale and then reinstall it. That seems to have worked. But I still don't know how some setting got changed that cut off playback.....

I tried to post the main score I am working on, and it's only 272K, but the site says that the file size is too large.

And when I try to export the file to a .wav, it creates an empty file.....

Up to today, my switch from Printmaker 14 to Finale 27 has solved several recurring problems. But today one surfaced in 27. My scores will not playback: no sound, no moving green line, nothing. When I open the same files in 14, they play normally.

Any ideas?

Ah, I found it. I UNCHECKED everything EXCEPT "tempo changes", and then it fixed the problem. Many thanks.

Did so, and Midi Data was already selected. I noticed that, under "Midi Data", "tempo changes" was NOT checked. Should I select that item to be checked? It will, I assume, eliminate all tempo changes, but perhaps you are saying I can then reassign them and that then they will work as they should?

I added a tempo alteration that is acting as if it is a decelerando. The tempo had been 132bpm for 80 measures, and I shift it at measure 184 to 148bpm. So, yes, 27 helped, but now, even in 27, it has happened again. The viola part drops out of playback.
