Re: gray area
If you’re in the Display Colors dialogue, double-click on the layer 4 color, and in the next screens, choose a new color. Click Apply and OK. (Note: I didn’t always work. Even when I chose a color, the Apply button didn’t always activate. A restart seemed to fix it.) Then, select those notes in mm 1...

Re: Changing staff line spacing
Staff tool. Click to the left of the bracket to select the entire staff, front to back. Dragging any one of them up or down by the handle at the left will be reflected in all measures. Actually, you could select everything except the first staff, and use the arrow keys to respace every staff evenly....

In Score Manager, look in the lower right corner. In the Staff dropdown, you can select a single-line staff.

Try Clearing MIDI Data.
It seems to work for me, so maybe you could post the document where you're having the problem.

Re: articulation tool
There are two handles on the arpeggio. One at the bottom, and one towards the center. Dragging by the center will let you move horizontally, while the bottom is for lengthening (or shortening) the arp.

Unwanted tuplet madness!
A friend of mine was entering simple notes as she has done for many years. As she relates it to me, at some point, for no apparent reason, the measures were transformed into what you see here.
Any suggestions?

Whenever something used to work, but now it doesn't, restart the computer. If that doesn't help, refresh the preferences.

Re: 1st ending
The "ghost beats" when using the pickup measure feature are only a problem (for me, anyway) when the pickup is included in the repeat. Then Peter's way is better. But the quick-and-dirty method is fine in most cases. IMNSHO, of course.

Yes, that's a Windows issue. Files get hidden in lots of places. There are various Uninstall apps that claim top find and delete them all, although I haven't used any of them.

Select the measure. Plugins > Note, Beam and Rest Editing > Change to Real Whole Rests. Now you can select the rest, and tap the H key to hide it.
